With a label featuring Silenus, a tutor to wine god Dionysus, this is a creamy, luxurious chardonnay, harvested from a vineyard on an old Roman settlement. The tropical palate is very alluring indeed.

This is a grenachebased, super-smooth rosé with a savoury twist of acidity on the finish. I love the red wines from this estate, but I haven’t seen the rosés for a while – it’s great to see them back.

£10.70, Field & Fawcett, fieldandfawcett.co.uk I love the albariño grape and while some are lush and tropical, this is on the tangy, lemon-zest end of the spectrum, making it dry, crisp and electric on the palate. Matched with fresh seafood, it’s heaven.

As one of my 100 Best Australian Wines of the year, this is dreamy with a thrilling texture and everlasting finish. It has no nettle and tropical tones, like sub-par sauvignons.

This is a powerful, spicy wine but, in all honesty, it’s not that heavy, just intensely flavoured – and this is its appeal. It’s so clever to cram in all this flavour, and you’ll love it paired with the Beef & Ale Pie recipe.
