The glamorous Paloma Faith gives a live concert tonight, featuring songs from her new album, The Architect. The album, which has a theme of suppressed emotions running through it, is Paloma’s fourth studio album. Her previous three albums became double platinum sellers in the UK, and there’s every reason to think that The Architect will follow suit.

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra gives a pleasing concert, opening with Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, one of the composer’s best-loved pieces. The concert closes with Brahms’s emotional Double Concerto. Between these two classics, we get the chance to hear an exciting new piece, commissioned by Classic FM, called Pathway, by Benjamin Rimmer.

Alexander von Humboldt was a Prussian naturalist and explorer who travelled extensively in
South America. As long ago as 1800, he saw the damage done by human-induced climate change, and predicted the ever growing problem of deforestation. We hear his story tonight as part of a series on big events and characters from the world of science.
