Born in Sudan in 1860, Jumbo the African bush elephant was captured as a baby after his mother was slaughtered by hunters. Transported to Europe, Jumbo won Britain’s heart at London Zoo before being sold to celebrity circus master P.T. Barnum, who shipped him to New York in 1882. In this riveting and poignant documentary, David Attenborough investigates the elephant’s remarkable life and tragic death, beginning by looking at his actual skeletal remains to try to ascertain just how jumbo Jumbo really was.
