Before Pirates Of The Caribbean, this attempt to revive the swashbuckler ran aground. Geena Davis stars as a plucky pirate in search of buried treasure, who acquires Matthew Modine’s educated slave (above, with Davis) – and aims to get both the guy and the gold.

(2012) 12 8PM, ITV2 Daniel Craig’s 007 has his loyalty to M (Judi Dench, right) sorely tested in this 23rd Bond film, directed with great care and panache by Sam Mendes. Action-packed, but also thoughtful, this is the Bond franchise at its very best.
