The Holiday’s over
The BBC is quick-stepping away from Len Goodman’s celebrity travel show Holiday Of My Lifetime, axing it after two series. ‘I’m very disappointed, it’s one of the most enjoyable programmes I’ve done,’ says the former Strictly judge, who accompanied celebrities such as EastEnders actor Jake Wood (above) and Arlene Phillips as they relived childhood hols.
Peter Capaldi left Doctor Who without pocketing any memorabilia. ‘I carry the memories of being the Doctor in my heart,’ says Peter, who was succeeded in the role by Jodie Whittaker on Christmas Day. ‘I don’t need a souvenir to remind me of those.’
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden believes the show has a built-in bias against comedian competitors. ‘They have to keep coming up with new material on the show, while the singers don’t necessarily have to,’ says Amanda. ‘I’d love to – at last – see a comedian defy the odds and win the competition in 2018.’
Jim Sturgess says he’s rather surprised to be playing a police officer in BBC drama Hard Sun. ‘I’m a scruffy guy and about as far from an authority figure as you can get,’ says Jim, who plays DCI Charlie Hicks in the series. ‘I normally see myself being on the other side of the law – on screen, that is, not in real life.’
