Selling a home is one of the most stressful things we go through in the real world. But in Soapland it’s an absolute breeze. In Emmerdale, the White family managed to offload Home Farm to Joe Tate in the same week they first considered selling it. With Christmas time seemingly no hurdle, the deal was signed and sealed in days. And no sooner had Eva Price decided to sell her flat in Coronation Street than she was fielding offers from eager buyers.

Buying a new home presents none of the usual concerns or problems either. Before they split up, Weatherfield’s Sarah and Gary were planning to buy a posh flat together, despite the fact that Sarah was working only part time and Gary had no job other than the odd dodgy mission to Ukraine.

It’s a shame it doesn’t look like the Queen Vic will be turned into luxury apartments after all. The demand would be huge since Walford residents can all afford rents or get mortgages at the drop of a hat – even the market traders who manage to sell just one bunch of bananas or tacky dress per week.
