Requiem

9PM, BBC1

Spooky six-part supernatural drama about high-flying young cellist Matilda Gray (Lydia Wilson), who is about to embark on a concert tour of New York with her pianist, Harlan Fine (Joel Fry), when, out of the blue, her mother commits suicide. Distraught, Matilda finds a box in her mother’s flat; it contains items relating to a child called Carys Howell, who went missing from Penllynith, a small Welsh village, in 1994. But what was her mother’s interest in Carys? And could her suicide be related? Matilda and Harlan head for Wales to find out.

As the enjoyably educational series continues, wine buffs Matthew Goode and James Purefoy (see below) tour the stunning French region of Burgundy, seeking out a wine that has enough gravitas to accompany the main course – coq au vin – of their epic lunch. Will Jancis Robinson be impressed with their finds?
