NETFLIX

Seven Seconds (Season 1) Moody, well-filmed US drama that follows the tension and cover-up when a black teenager is run over by a white police officer. It comes from Veena Sud, who produced the US version of The Killing. From Friday.

Merlin (All five seasons)

The fun BBC drama with Colin Morgan as the young wizard and Richard Wilson as his mentor, Gaius. Until Thursday.

The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale

(Episode 1) The whipsmart US comic and star of Community returns to TV with this new series, which is in a similar vein to his E! series The

Soup. It’s an acerbic blend of pop culture commentary and sketches. A new episode arrives every Sunday.

Mute (2018) 15

Director Duncan

Jones describes this imaginative sci-fi as a ‘spiritual sequel’ to his 2009 movie Moon, and as ‘Blade Runner meets Casablanca’. Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd star in the story of a bartender’s search for his girlfriend in a futuristic Berlin. From Friday.

AMAZON PRIME

The Tick (Season 1, Part 2) The return of a very goofy superhero series that stars Peter Serafinowicz as the boneheaded but well-meaning Tick. The less successful previous attempt at turning this niche comic book into a show – from 2001 – is also on Amazon. From Friday.

Loudermilk (Season 1)

A hangdog Ron Livingston plays the rock journalist turned drunk turned addiction counsellor at the centre of this super-dry US comedy. Loudermilk very rarely says the right thing, but his intentions are good – deep, deep, deep, deep down. The series is nicely edited, and has a good ear for kooky music choices. Singin’ In The Rain (1952) U Timeless musical that covers the shift from silents to talkies in the 1920s. Every number is a delight, as is the chemistry between Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelly (left) and Donald O’Connor. From Wednesday.

Sherlock Holmes (2009) 12

It’s been eclipsed by the BBC series, but there’s a lot of charm in Guy Ritchie’s pairing of Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson. From Wednesday.

SKY ON DEMAND/ NOW TV

Mosaic (All six parts) This compelling murder mystery from Steven Soderbergh stars Sharon Stone (right), and the whole of it will be available to watch after part one has been on

Sky Atlantic. From today, 11pm.

Delicious (Seasons 1-2)

Sky’s sad but goodlooking drama about two women (Dawn French and

Emilia Fox) who betray each other over a vain chef. The stunning Cornish setting, and Tanya Reynolds as the complicated daughter, are the best reasons to watch. From Monday.

Legion

(Season 1) Dan Stevens stars in this dazzling psychological superhero thriller, which will be returning to Fox for season two on April 17. From Friday. Splash (1984) PG Ron Howard directs this delightfully fluff y romcom in which Daryl Hannah dazzles as a mermaid who falls for a man from the land – played by a sweet Tom Hanks. John Candy co-stars as his boisterous brother.

BEST OF THE REST
