10PM, BBC2 Following the success of the first, Stefan Golaszewski’s brilliant, award-winning sitcom returns for a welcome second series (happily, a third has already been ordered) following another year in the life of widowed Cathy (Lesley Manville). Fans will be delighted to see all the cast returning – including Peter Mullan as Michael, Cathy’s heartbreakingly smitten friend, and Lisa McGrillis as Kelly (right), her son’s airhead girlfriend. The first episode is set on Cathy’s 60th birthday – and, thanks to Kelly’s thoughtful banners, the whole neighbourhood knows her age.

100 Year Old Driving School

7.30PM, ITV A new series of the show that follows some of Britain’s oldest drivers as they are put through their paces in a mature driving assessment. The first episode meets John, who is 102 and likes to drive on the wrong side of the road so as to see the oncoming traffic better. Time to hang up the keys, John?

The Dog Rescuers With Alan Davies

8PM, CH5 Alan Davies returns with a new, sixth series in which he meets dogs rescued from appalling circumstances, often involving abuse and neglect, and the people striving to ensure they get to run in the sun – perhaps for the first time in their lives. In this episode, 21 dogs are found in a single unsuitable home.

9PM, BBC1 In part two of the atmospheric crime drama, Jimmy searches for Malone’s attackers, while Tosh investigates whether Sally was killed because she was working on an article in which she accused an oil company of corporate manslaughter. Meanwhile, DNA found on the scarf used to kill Lizzie Kilmuir yields shocking results.
