1978

Norman Stanley Fletcher was free. The criminal, played by Ronnie Barker, made his first appearance in BBC1 spin-off Going Straight, which saw him enjoy life beyond the walls of HMP Slade, the setting for sitcom smash Porridge.

1988

In Channel 4 comedy Tickets For The Titanic, Tony Robinson was a vicar in trouble with MI5. In 2005 Tony (right) joined James Cameron, director of the film Titanic, for a dive to the ship’s wreck for Titanic Adventure, a documentar­y.

1998

Charlotte Coleman debuted in How Do You Want Me?, a BBC2 comedy. She played Lisa, the wife of a photograph­er played by Dylan Moran. It was her last major role – the Four Weddings And A Funeral star died from a severe asthma attack in 2001 aged just 33.

2008

Tea-infused venison and smoked mozzarella ravioli helped James Nathan win MasterChef on BBC2 and the victory was more than a flash in the pan. The former barrister has carried on cooking and is currently head chef at the St Enodoc Hotel in Cornwall.
