Sophie Willan’s Guide To Normality

-

11PM, RADIO 4

Sophie Willan’s family are so weird that they might well turn up to a funeral with a spare coffin – ‘just in case’. Many comedians claim they had an odd upbringing, but Sophie’s was the real deal. Her mother was addicted to heroin, and Sophie spent much of her childhood in and out of the care system. In this first of her new series, Sophie gives us an account of her family, including an aunt who knits clothes for hamsters and a grandmother who could be either ‘a beauty or a crow’. This is a tough, darkly funny piece of latenight, grown-up radio comedy.
