To Rhyme And Chime For A Chair

Welsh poetry is made all the more sonorous by the use of an ancient piece of word-craft, known as cynghanedd, which uses stress, alliterati­on and rhyme to create sound harmonies. It works best in the musical Welsh language, but you can catch the feel of cynghanedd in Dylan Thomas’s rendition of his poem Fern Hill.
