PICK OF THE DAY
Nothing Like A Dame
9PM, BBC2
Dames Eileen Atkins, Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright and Judi Dench (right) have been friends for more than half a century, and have seen each other blossoming from fledgling ingenues to highly respected queens of stage and screen. In this enormously enjoyable documentary, the formidable quartet allow cameras to film them as ‘themselves’ as they sit in a quintessentially English country garden, taking a trip down memory lane. Wonderful archive footage helps to illustrate this joyful insight into the remarkable lives of these remarkable women.
The British Soap Awards 2018
8PM, ITV
Hosted by Phillip Schofield, the ceremony airs live for the first time. This year, the usual categories (Best Actor/ Actress/Newcomer, etc) are joined by a one-off award for Greatest Moment (Of All Time) – although the earliest scene nominated dates back to 2001. With so many to choose from, it will surely become a regular.
