1999 The year Jamie, aged 23, burst on to our screens with his first TV series, The Naked Chef, having been discovered by the BBC when it made a documentar­y about The River Cafe, where he worked as a sous chef. The accompanyi­ng book became the UK’s number one bestseller. Fifteen The name of his first nonprofit restaurant, in London, which he set up in 2002 with the aim of turning young people into chefs; Jamie himself was only 26 at the time. To date, Fifteen has trained more than 500 apprentice­s worldwide, and there is another branch in Cornwall.
