The star of the emotional drama reveals five secrets from the set
1 Our filming in Los Angeles is often interrupted by wolf whistles. I realise how many people follow the show – which centres on the affair of my character Noah [pictured] with waitress Alison – when crowds come to see us. They call out, ‘Keep it up, Dominic!’ which is nice.

In all the love scenes,
Noah is focused on the encounter, but I have to be aware of what’s going on around me, such as the director asking me to move a little to the left. Viewers don’t see the 30 people in the room, like the person waiting to apply make-up
to the backs of my legs.

My bedroom scenes are mainly with my British co-star Ruth Wilson (Alison), so much so that it feels odd to do them with others. When that happens, I tell Ruth I’ve eaten lots of food out of misery at her absence...

Noah has moved to LA to be near his children,
but I plan to move my wife Catherine and our children out to me! I identify with how Noah suffers by being separated from his children due to his affair. Downtime is difficult, when I think of my kids in the UK.

It’s heartening when people are surprised to discover I’m British. It’s a challenge to play a dude from Brooklyn when I’m actually a factory owner’s son from Sheffield!
