It’s no easy matter bringing up youngsters who have easy access to social media, and will be growing up in a world very different from the one their parents and grandparen­ts knew. This week, Mariella and her guests look at the skills needed in the job markets of the future.

The Cut Out Girl

Many Dutch people took Jewish children into their homes during the Nazi occupation, and saved those children from the death camps. It was a desperatel­y dangerous thing to do, particular­ly as many other Dutch people had no qualms about helping the Nazis to round up the Jews. Bart van Es, who was born in the Netherland­s, heard how some of his family had taken a Jewish girl into their home, putting their lives on the line. This account of his search for the story and the girl is read by Daniel Weyman.
