As the classic 1990s US sitcom enjoys another surge in popularity and continues its run from the start on Ch5 (4pm), we take a look at how the show and its characters add up…

4&5 The numbers of the apartments lived in by Joey and Chandler (4) and Monica and Rachel (5) in the first episodes, until they were changed to 19 and 20. Given that both apartments were on the sixth floor, their door numbers wouldn’t have been so low, and the mistake was corrected by episode ten.

$22,500 Cast wages, per episode, for the first season. By the final season, this had risen to $1 million.

7 The number of sisters Joey had – Veronica, Mary Angela, Mary Theresa, Gina, Tina, Dina and Cookie. Bonus fact: Chandler kissed one of them (Mary Angela), but was too drunk to remember which.

4 The number of times Ross and Rachel broke up with each other; they’d met as teenagers.

60 million The number of people in the US and the UK who watched the last of the show’s 236 episodes.

7 The number of children the Friends had between them. Ross had a son, Ben, with first wife Carol. Phoebe had triplets as a surrogate for her half-brother, Frank Jr. Rachel and Ross were parents to Emma, and Monica and Chandler adopted twins Jack and Erica in the finale.
