This time, we’re following the staff and crews of the North West Ambulance Service over the UK’s hottest and busiest summer in decades, when they received an average of 4,000 emergency calls every day. With temperatures soaring, difficult decisions had to made about whom to help, and who could wait. The first episode finds Glynn and Andrea (right) racing to help a poorly baby when they are diverted to a road traffic collision.

Here, a team of scientists conduct a unique experiment in the Canadian Rockies, trying to see into the heart of an avalanche.

One in 200 babies in the UK is stillborn. Filmed over two years, this deeply moving feature-length documentary follows three couples’ very different experiences of losing a baby before birth. Revealing the devastating impact on parents, the film highlights the urgent need for more dedicated resources across the NHS. SH
