PICK OF THE DAY
Inside The Foreign Office
9PM, BBC2
Filmed over a turbulent year, this new, three-part series has been granted privileged access to the private world of British diplomats, in Whitehall and in embassies around the globe. In this first film, we follow the diplomats as they wrestle with a series of crises and challenges from Burma to Russia, while the then new Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson (right), settles into his role. But the main thrust of the series is to look at how the UK can maintain its influence on the ever changing world stage – and, in doing so, protect the UK’s security.
