The star of the mystery drama set in Wales reveals five secrets from the set

- Eve Myles

1

In series one my character Faith Howells went to hell and back after the disappearance of her husband. Series two is about the repercussions – and there’s even more trauma for Faith. I have pinch marks on my legs from making myself cry in scenes. But I love that the show has so much humour too, real Welsh humour, which comes out at the saddest of moments.

My husband Bradley

Freegard plays my screen husband Evan, which is intense. When you’re working with your best friend there are no limits. I trust him and hopefully he trusts me, so it broadens what we can do. But there were moments when I’d get home after filming and struggle to snap out of the emotion.

The popularity of the yellow Joules mac that Faith wears is remarkable. When we were

shooting scenes for this series at a hospital we had to keep cutting because fans, once they’d heard we were filming there, kept coming in and out of the building – and they were all wearing yellow macs!

There’s a magic about Laugharne, where much of our filming takes place. During one scene a stunning harvest moon came over the hill. It was so incredible viewers will think it’s CGI, but we can’t afford that!

My cast-mates and I – including Aneirin Hughes, who plays Faith’s father-in-law Tom, and Aimee-Ffion Edwards, as local farmer Madlen – filmed first in Welsh and then in English, as the series is broadcast in both languages. The Welsh version is shorter as it has adverts. You get more story when you watch in English on BBC1, but we hope both versions are equally good.
