LIAR

9PM, ITV ★★★★

Back after a two-year absence comes the Williams brothers’ dark drama about date rape doctor Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd). The last time we saw Andrew, his crimes had caught up with him, and he was lying dead in the water. This six-part drama seeks to show how he ended up there. Told in flashback and three weeks after his disappearance, it follows DI Karen Renton (Katherine Kelly) as she arrives to investigate the case. The very long list of suspects includes rape victim Laura (Joanne Froggatt, right). Everyone wanted Andrew dead – but who did the deed?

Rylan Clark-neal steps into Ainsley Harriott’s shoes as host of a new series of the culinary competition, which returns to our screens for the first time since 2010. Each day, two contestants challenge a pair of celebrity chefs to come up with the perfect dish. But who will get the audience vote, Green Peppers or Red Tomatoes?

MURDER 24/7

Over the next two nights, we follow detectives from Essex Police in real time as they investigate a double stabbing in Colchester’s homeless community, which leaves one victim dead and the other seriously injured.
