(Season 2) HHHH Although it was completely unnecessar­y, season two of

HBO’S star-studded drama is very watchable indeed.

The addition of Meryl Streep as Perry’s mum, who unpicks the lies told by the women in season one, gives it the oomph it needs. From Friday.

This feature-length one-off brings a poignant full stop to the HBO western, 13 years after it ended. It’s 1889, and the future is coming to Deadwood in the form of telephone lines – but a battle must be fought first. Timothy Olyphant and Ian Mcshane return. From Friday.
