FELLOWES LETS RIP

- WITH TIM OGLETHORPE

Julian Fellowes, the creator of Belgravia (pictured above), has interesting views on celebrities. When asked about ‘big stars’ he said, ‘It’s a meaningless social group in the sense that some are very nice, and some are very mad. Some are as mad as a rat. You have to feel your way until you’ve established whether you’re dealing with a normal adult or not.’ What percentage of big stars are mad? ‘I’d better not say,’ he giggled. ‘But a strange sense of entitlement can come with success. Big, big success can make people mad.’

Dawn French isn’t happy that A-ha are always on the radio when she plays Maggie in ITV drama The Trouble With Maggie Cole. ‘It was writer Mark Brotherhood’s choice, and it slightly rankled because they’re not my taste particularly,’ she says.

Our Girl may have reached the end of the line due to coronavirus, says the BBC1 military drama’s writer Tony Grounds. ‘The whole series is filmed in South Africa and it’s up in the air at the moment,’ he says. I’m A Celebrity winner Jacqueline Jossa was favourite to take over from Michelle Keegan (pictured) in the lead role.

n Sarah Beeny wants to make a show about rich people who voluntarily live behind closed gates. Sarah, who hosts the new series of Renovate Don’t Relocate on HGTV from this Tuesday, says, ‘I’d like to talk to people who’ve built mansions, with home cinemas and swimming pools, to find out if you sacrifice happiness when you cut yourself off.’
