PICK OF THE DAY
ROYAL HOLIDAY SECRETS
8PM, CH5 ★★★★
With our holidays on hold for the foreseeable future, many of us will only see the sun through our TV screens. This one-off documentary takes viewers on a world tour, following the royal family as they take time out from the palace and the paparazzi. Modern royals might be spotted on safari or on the ski slopes, but the azure blue of the Med and the exclusive retreat of Mustique were favoured by the likes of Princess Margaret. The Queen, meanwhile, seems most at home in her wellies, on staycation at Balmoral (right).
GREAT AMERICAN RAILROAD JOURNEYS
8PM, BBC2 ★★★
Continuing west through the Canadian prairies, Michael Portillo arrives in Alberta’s capital, Edmonton. There, he jumps at the chance of driving one of the city’s early-20thcentury heritage streetcars. Then, it’s onward to some jawdropping scenes as Michael arrives at the Rocky Mountains.
CASUALTY
8.25PM, BBC1 ★★★ Paramedic Lev is struggling to cope as his son, Luka, starts his chemotherapy, and colleague Ruby is finding it difficult to come to terms with her decision regarding baby Harmony. A grieving Charlie, meanwhile, has reached breaking point. Can his friends and colleagues talk him down, or is he about to do something rash?
