Cynical Piet Van der Valk polices the mean streets of Amsterdam with Lucienne Hassell (Maimie Mccoy, right, with Warren), his feisty partner.

Another gem of a natural history documentar­y series from the BBC, this one focusing on our closest relatives in the wild. Over three episodes, we learn some surprising secrets about old favourites such as the orang-utan (right), as well as discoverin­g new species never seen before on screen.

IF YOU WANT A BOOZY NIGHT... INSIDE THE FACTORY TUESDAY, 9PM, BBC2

In Ireland, Gregg Wallace visits a factory that produces 540,000 bottles of liqueurs a day, following the production of a cream-and-whiskey favourite, while Cherry Healey is at a plant that recycles glass bottles and jars. And, of course, the pair (right) don’t pass up the opportunit­y for a quick tipple.

IF YOU WANT FOOD AND DRINK... PAUL HOLLYWOOD EATS JAPAN TUESDAY, 9PM, CH4

The Great British Bake Off judge is the latest celebrity to head to the Land of the Rising Sun to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of this unique country. In the first episode, he takes a tour of Tokyo while dressed as a Mutant Ninja Turtle (right).

IF YOU WANT GOLDEN OLDIES... THE REAL MARIGOLD HOTEL THURSDAY, 9PM, BBC1

A new batch of celebrity OAPS pack their bags and head to India to see whether it’s a country in which they could spend their twilight years. Barbara Dickson, Britt Ekland, Zandra Rhodes and Susie Blake (right) are the women who show no signs of slowing down any time soon.
