WHO IS? Daisy Edgar-jones

Currently starring as Marianne in the drama Normal People (9pm, BBC1), rising star Daisy, 21, has been acting since she was five years old – in school plays. Here’s her story so far…

● Born and raised in north London, Daisy auditioned to join the National Youth Theatre at the age of 14, never expecting to be accepted. She was and in 2016, aged 18, she made her TV debut as Olivia Marsden in the revival of ITV’S hit comedy drama Cold Feet.

● Her mum, Wendy, is a film and TV editor, while dad Philip is head of entertainm­ent at Sky – and was previously the creative director on Big Brother. ‘He had some interestin­g insights into fame,’ she notes.

● Following appearance­s in Silent

Witness (2017) and Gentleman

Jack (2019), Daisy had a starring role in last year’s Fox co-production of War Of The Worlds. It is due back for a second series.

● She first learned about Normal People when she heard her boyfriend helping a friend to tape an audition for the role of Marianne at their flat. ‘I thought, “That sounds really good.”’ Daisy (centre, with co-star Paul Mescal) was soon invited to audition herself.
