OLD, ALONE AND STUCK AT HOME
9PM, CH4 ★★★★ This latest in a series of touching documentaries telling the deeply personal stories of those affected by Covid-19 focuses on those who are especially vulnerable and may have to continue to selfisolate even after the general lockdown is lifted. Remarkably, this isn’t all as downbeat as it sounds. The people featured have ways to keep their spirits up, even though they miss hugging their grandchildren or face incredible challenges every day. Among them is Suzanne (right), who has cancer, and keeps active with the help of fitness guru the Green Goddess.
SINK OR SKIM – OUR LIVES
7.30PM, BBC1 ★★★★ Anyone who’s tried to skim a stone across water will know it takes skill and practice. The tiny island of Easdale, off Scotland’s west coast, has millions of perfect slate stones and a 63m quarry, and it’s home to the World Stone Skimming Championship. Follow the race to crown the ‘Top Tosser’ and set a Guinness World Record.
ABSOLUTELY INDIA: MANCS IN MUMBAI
8PM, ITV ★★★
The Thomas boys leave the relentless hustle and bustle of Mumbai and head out to the golden sands and rich culture of Goa, where they meet another cousin, Natasha. But after yoga and a session with an energy therapist, things get emotional during a heartto-heart with dad Dougie.
THE GREAT BRITISH SEWING BEE
9PM, BBC1 ★★★★
It’s lingerie and sleepwear week, and the sewers have to try not to get their knickers in a twist. Their first task is a basque, made up of lots of tiny pieces; next, they make over chintzy pyjamas and nighties in the transformation challenge, with a delicate two-piece sleep ensemble for the finale. POLAR EXTREMES
8.35PM, PBS AMERICA ★★★★ There are clues to our planet’s past at the poles, and palaeontologist Kirk ohnson (left) has the enviable job of wandering these epic landscapes to tell us about them. Geologically speaking, ice at the poles is fairly ecent – once, the Antarctic was home to dinosaurs and rainforests.
