MACBETH: ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY

-

★★★★ Punchy production starring Christopher Eccleston (left) and Niamh Cusack, in which key lines are projected on to an enormous upstage screen in a manner that feels rather like a teaching aide. It can take you out of the play, so best to just focus on Eccleston and Cusack’s powerful exchanges as the Macbeths.

SCHITT’S CREEK

10PM, 4MUSIC ★★★

Catherine O’hara (left) and Eugene Levy are the veteran stars of this Canadian comedy, set in a town owned by a rich family who have fallen on hard times – and been forced to move there. This is the sixth and final season – the first five series are available on Netflix. (Freeview 29, Sky 139, Virgin 337)

BARBARIANS RISING

10PM, BLAZE ★★★

This new-to-freeview docudrama tells the stories of outsiders who fought the Roman Empire. It’s hammy, but there’s fun in that – first up is Hannibal (Nicholas Pinnock, left), who, with the help of his elephants, wants to stick it to those nasty Romans.
