THE HEIGHTS

1.45PM, BBC1 ★★★

Two stories are set in motion by this new daily Australian drama, which opens with the evacuation of a block of flats due to a fire alarm. Luckily, as it’s Australia, a barbecue is already under way outside so no one will go hungry – but its operator, ex-cop Pav (Marcus Graham, near right), is distracted by a mewling baby in the bushes. Who left it there? The other thread is the death of pub landlord and shaky pillar of the community Bill, whose daughter can’t wait to cash in and sell his pub, much to the dismay of local alcoholics. But it won’t be that simple…

YOUR MONEY AND YOUR LIFE

10AM, BBC1 ★★★

It’s a tricky time for consumer rights at the moment with so many companies in financial trouble – particularly when it comes to summer holidays. Matt Allwright and Kym Marsh are on hand to help in this new consumer advice series, which will run every weekday for three weeks, and will also address life at work and at home.

INSIDE MONACO: PLAYGROUND OF THE RICH

9PM, BBC2 ★★★

Last week, we were shown the glamour; tonight, we learn about the security that underpins it, and protects the ‘absolute power’ of Prince Albert II. It involves lots of guns, and men who are ready ‘to take action if needed’. Then, it’s back to the glamour with a trip to the Casino de Monte-carlo.

MURDER IN THE CAR PARK

9PM, CH4 ★★★★

On March 10, 1987, the private investigator Daniel Morgan was found in a pub car park with an axe in his skull and £1,000 in his pocket. This interesting new series hears from both suspects and investigators in an inquiry that has lasted 33 years and cost £30 million, but failed to result in a conviction. ROBIN WIGGS

Morse suspects a connection between a disappearance and an unsolved murder. Shaun Evans stars. 10.00 Foyle’s War The body of a local man is found near a military centre. Last in series.
