THE GLASTONBURY EXPERIENCE LIVE
8.30PM, BBC2 ★★★★ While revellers (right) can’t celebrate the music festival’s 50th birthday in person this year, we can all join in with a fantastic weekend courtesy of the archives. Tonight, Jo Whiley and Mark Radcliffe show us sets such as The Rolling Stones in 2013, P.J. Harvey in 2004 and Stormzy’s 2019 show.
Also catch Beyonce’s groundbreaking 2011 set in full (10pm) and her husband, Jay Z’s, jampacked 2008 show (11.30pm, BBC4). Rock fans are treated to Elbow in 2011 (9pm, BBC4) and Arthur Lee & Love classics from 2003 (10pm, BBC4).
JAMIE’S QUICK & EASY FOOD
8PM, CH4 ★★★
Top chef Jamie Oliver is back with another round of go-to recipes that you can whip up in no time. In this first episode, he makes an incredible lamb curry that’s so aromatic you can almost smell it through the TV. Jamie also makes a pesto prawn pasta and, for a speedy snack, he puts together some fun flapjack biscuits.
CELEBRITY SNOOP DOGS
8.30PM, CH4 ★★★
Through The Keyhole is facing some adorable competition from this new show, which sees dogs fitted with cameras giving tours of their mystery celebrity owners’ homes – what could possibly go wrong? Kevin Mccloud narrates, and up first is a sweet four-yearold Lhasa Apso, plus a lovely eight-year-old Labrador mix.
A GREEK ODYSSEY WITH BETTANY HUGHES
9PM, CH5 ★★★★
When visiting the home of the god of wine and excess, you’d expect quite the party – and Bettany isn’t disappointed as she visits the island of Naxos, which has a truly huge statue of Dionysos. She also goes to the very wealthy isle of Sifnos, and learns how the ancient Greeks communicated. TJ
CELEBRITY SUPPLY TEACHER
9.20AM, CBBC ★★★★
Ed Balls brings the penultimate week of celebrity school to close with a bang as he delivers a unique lesson on history. He teaches it in the style of a game show, in which he plays both contestants – Alfred the Great and Elizabeth I (left). It feels very much like an audition for Horrible Histories.
SECRETS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM
8PM, YESTERDAY ★★★
Saturn’s rings are one of the most magical sights in our solar system, but what exactly are they made of, and why doesn’t every planet have them? The rings are actually made of many small chunks of rock and ice, although small is a relative term – some are as large as a mountain.
GLASTONBURY
9PM, BBC4 ★★★★
A cracking evening of greatest hits from previous years opens with Elbow in 2011 and closes at 11.30pm with the barnstorming headline set from Jay-z (left) in 2008. In between, look out for the more relaxing Glastonbury Backstage Acoustics series at 11pm.
