THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS CELEBRATE 21 YEARS

9PM, ITV ★★★★

This annual awards ceremony is the latest in a long list of events to be taking a pause this year due to coronavirus. In its place, Phillip Schofield (right) narrates this special programme looking back on the past 21 years in soapland’s back-slapping history. The first awards were held in 1999, when now defunct soaps – including Brookside and Family Affairs – were still in the running. Phillip will be revisiting the best British and foreign soaps, as well as the storylines, villains and ‘greatest moments’ that have picked up prizes.

COUNTRYFILE

5.15PM, BBC1 ★★★★

As restrictions are eased, Ellie Harrison visits Charlecote Park in Warwickshire, one of the first National Trust venues to reopen its grounds to the public in June. There, she sees how it’s been business as usual with the historic estate’s flock of Jacob sheep, while the on-site water mill has been supplying the lockdown baking boom.

LOST PYRAMIDS OF THE AZTECS

★★★★ In the concluding part of this fascinating exploration of a lost ancient civilisation, archaeologists investigate the discovery of more than 100 skeletons buried on a hillside close to Mexico City. There’s also a mysterious manuscript that reveals grisly details of Aztec ritual sacrifice, and the replica pyramid is completed.
