Marcus Wareing, Gregg Wallace and Monica Galetti (right) are back for a new series of the kitchen challenge. Profession­al chefs who currently work in pubs and restaurant­s around the country will be out to prove that they can take their cooking to the next level.

IF YOU WANT MAN’S BEST FRIEND... 12 PUPPIES AND US WEDNESDAY, 8PM, BBC2

This likeable new series follows the stories of 12 puppies as they begin life with their new owners. Across the series, we will see how the new arrivals develop, learn and adapt to their new worlds. For Border collie Meg, that means life as a sheepdog working alongside novice shepherdes­s Victoria (right).

IF YOU WANT A WEEKEND AWAY... PAULO ’GRADY’S GREAT BRITISH ESCAPE WEDNESDAY, 8PM, ITV

In this new, six-part series, Paul O’grady will be sharing the beautiful sights, stories and secrets of his adopted home county of Kent. And the best way to experience the stunning countrysid­e, he decides, is from the air, as he takes to the skies in a 1935 Tiger Moth plane (right).

IF YOU WANT CHARITY... CHILDREN IN NEED FRIDAY, 7PM, BBC1

This year’s big night will be hosted by Mel Giedroyc (right), Stephen Mangan, Alex Scott and Chris Ramsey as the charity fundraiser celebrates its 40th anniversar­y. Expect exclusive performanc­es and sketches from Strictly, Eastenders and Doctor Who, plus music and the odd surprise or two. Dig deep.
