CAMILLA: MAKING OF A MISTRESS
9.30PM, CH5 ★★★★ Slowly, the British public has come to accept Camilla Parker Bowles (right), who married Prince Charles in 2005, but who had – thanks to the bitter breakdown of his marriage to Princess Diana – been seen as ‘Britain’s most hated woman’. This documentary casts a light on Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the woman who is finally respected as a valued member of the royal family. Who was she before Charles? Why was she not considered a suitable bride for the future King? And what fuels their obvious, deep connection?
CASUALTY
7.45PM, BBC1 ★★★
This episode moves on to the summer of 2020, during a brief respite from severe lockdown restrictions. During this little breather, new character Leon (Bobby Lockwood), an upbeat young paramedic, makes his debut, and we also revisit a past storyline involving Faith, Lev and Dylan. But the spectre of Covid-19 still looms large.
MARK LAWSON TALKS TO JOHN LE CARRE
8.30PM, BBC2 ★★★★
First shown in 2008, this is a fascinating insight into the master of spy fiction, who died last month. From his childhood to his work with the British intelligence services in the 1960s, his own experiences shaped his writing. The 2011 film of his 1974 novel Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy follows.
SECRETS OF THE ROYAL PALACES
8.30PM, CH5 ★★★
This series is loaded with fun and surprising facts about the royal residences over the centuries. Tonight’s episode focuses on Balmoral, the Queen’s favourite bolthole. It might be an architectural mishmash, but as a fortress from prying eyes, it’s a royal winner. SIMONE ANDREWS
