RETURN TO DUNBLANE WITH LORRAINE KELLY ★★★★

9PM, ITV

Twenty-five years ago, 16 children and their teacher, Gwen Mayor (far right), were massacred by a gunman at their school in a quiet Scottish town. The event truly appalled the nation, and led to firearms reforms. Lorraine Kelly led GMTV’S coverage, and forged strong bonds with the people of the town. In this commemorative special, she returns to see how the families – whose resilience is so admirable – have coped, and to gently help them to tell their incredibly moving stories. It’s a highly emotional watch.

YOUR GARDEN MADE PERFECT

8PM, BBC2 ★★★ The final episode of the series sees Angela Scanlon heading to Manchester with designers Helen Elks-smith and Pip Probert. They’re helping a couple whose large garden is badly overlooked on all sides. But which will win: Helen’s design, with an abundance of trees, or Pip’s circular and pergola-filled creation?

Prepare for your heartstrings to be well and truly pulled as the series that goes behind the scenes at Wood Green, The Animals Charity returns for a second run – and what a busy year it’s been. The demand for dogs in the UK has risen by a whopping 650 per cent, and there’s no shortage of adorable pups waiting to be rehomed.
