GRACE KELLY: THE HOLLYWOOD YEARS 9PM, CH5 ★★★★

When Grace (right) married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956, she said goodbye to her acting career, making the transition from Hollywood icon to royal Princess. This film charts her path to the red carpet, from bit-part roles – including an insecticide advert – to career highs of an Academy Award (for 1954’s The Country Girl) and three acclaimed thrillers with Alfred Hitchcock. But what is not so well-remembered is that, as with many women in the public eye, not all the stories about her were celebratory or kind.

HIRE MY HOME 5.35PM, CH4 ★★★

This pilot for a new makeover show sets interior designers loose on two drab holiday homes, and lets the public decide which one they’d rather hire for their next staycation. Anna Campbell-jones and Zeena Shah are the designers, transforming two properties in Aberdeenshire, Scotland into picture-perfect retreats.

THE WINDSORS: INSIDE THE ROYAL DYNASTY

8PM, CH4 ★★★★

This six-part series follows the twists and turns that have marked the reigning house of the British monarchy – long before Harry and Meghan. It starts in 1936 with the death of King George V and the choice his heir, Edward VIII, made between the throne and his love for Wallis Simpson.

MY FATHER AND ME

9.45PM, BBC2 ★★★★

This very personal film from Nick Broomfield (see below) is a memoir of the documentarymaker’s family and specifically his dad, Maurice. As a factory worker turned photographer, Maurice was an inspiration to Nick’s own career, but, as this film reveals, father and son did not always see eye to eye.
