PICK OF THE DAY
ELIZABETH TAYLOR: A LIFE IN TEN PICTURES
9.10PM, BBC2 ★★★★ Elizabeth Taylor’s career spanned six decades, from her first film in the 1940s to her final TV role in 2001. She won two Oscars, for Butterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, but people mostly counted her marriages (eight, two to Richard Burton). This is the story of her very public life, illustrated by ten intimate photographs. Follow her transition from naive child star (aged 12 in her breakout film, National Velvet) to the ranks of acting royalty, and gain an insight into her private life as a wife, a mother and an activist.
MARTIN & ROMAN’S WEEKEND BEST!
8.30AM, ITV ★★★
Father and son duo Martin and Roman Kemp always look very happy in each other’s company – which is just as well because the new series of their fun entertainment show will now be going out every Saturday and Sunday morning. Expect music, chat and lots of laughter.
CASUALTY 8.30PM, BBC1 ★★★
This episode covers some controversial topics, especially the troubling predicament of a young rough sleeper who has lost all hope of ever living a normal life. Marty, meanwhile, is hurt and angry when he finds out that his mother has secretly undergone surgery for ‘women’s problems’ – and is now paying a heavy price.
ZARA & MIKE: NO-NONSENSE ROYALS
9PM, CH5 ★★★★ Zara, the daughter of Anne, the Princess Royal, married rugby player Mike Tindall in 2011, and they recently welcomed their third child. This is the story of a couple with refreshingly few airs and graces, who – despite their different backgrounds – seem to be an ideal match.
