CALL THE MIDWIFE

8PM, BBC1 ★★★★

The nuns and midwives of this much-loved drama have witnessed almost a decade of change in east London since the show began. Set in 1966, this new, tenth series finds Sister Julienne still fighting to keep Nonnatus House afloat – but is private healthcare really the answer? While Dr Turner is horrified at the prospect, Trixie is rather more excited by a money-making partnership with an upmarket private clinic, especially when she sees the designer uniform. Back in Poplar, Lucille (Leonie Elliott, right) and Dr Turner tackle a tragic and troubling delivery.

CLIMATE CHANGE: ADE ON THE FRONTLINE 8PM, BBC2

★★★★

For his second of three programmes, Ade Adepitan is exploring Bangladesh’s Ganges delta, a region of stunning natural beauty that is taking a beating from extreme weather. Here, and in Bhutan, Ade learns of the crucial role that trees play in protecting the planet.

LINE OF DUTY 9PM, BBC1

★★★★ Old battler Ted Hastings is facing forced retirement, and the future of AC-12 – and, indeed, all police anticorruption units – looks bleak. In this series, we’ve seen the return of many names and faces from the past, and tonight, another character makes a comeback – but whose side are they on?

GUY MARTIN’S BATTLE OF BRITAIN

9PM, CH4 ★★★★ Over two episodes, Guy will see if he’s got what it takes to fly a Hawker Hurricane and take on a Messerschmitt 109 for a re-creation of a Battle of Britain dogfight. Guy will go through the same training, in the air and on the ground, and fly the same planes, in the same places, as the young men of Fighter Command. SA
