PICK OF THE DAY
Ackley Bridge
6PM, CH4 ★★★
The vibrant, button-pushing Yorkshire school drama opens its fourth series in a teatime slot with a half-hour running time, which gives it the air of a grown-up Grange Hill. Jo Joyner returns as teacher Mandy, while there are plenty of new faces among the pupils, including best friends Kayla (‘funny and big-hearted’) and Fizza (‘outspoken’), plus the cocky Johnny, who serves as a bit of a heart-throb for both (right). Episodes continue every weekday, but for those who simply can’t wait that long, the whole lot will be on All 4 from 6.30pm.
Greta Thunberg: A Year To Change The World
9PM, BBC1 ★★★★
‘I can’t be rude, but on the other hand, I can’t be too nice.’ In part two, the impressive and acutely self-aware Greta mulls how to handle Donald Trump at Davos, inspects the UK’S carbon capture plans, and has a meeting with David Attenborough which is liable to bring a tear to the eye.
Different League: The Derry City Story
9PM, BBC2 ★★★★
The power of football to change a community drives this documentary. It’s the story of how Derry City FC, after 13 years in the wilderness and without a ground, found its way back to the professional game by turning its eyes south and across the border – to the League of Ireland.
Lucy, The Human Chimp
9PM, CH4 ★★★★
Lucy was raised as a human in the 1960s US and, as she grew bigger and more dangerous, it became clear she would have to return to the wild. The poor primate was ill-prepared for that life, though, and this poignant documentary really kicks off at the point her human carer decides to stay and help in Gambia. ROBIN WIGGS
