MOVIE MONSTER (2021) 15 After being pulled into a deadly robbery, a talented 17-yearold winds up in prison in Netflix’s US courtroom drama. The film is in danger of being more style than substance at times, but that style is impressive. From Friday. MOVIE MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL (2019) 12 Emma Thompson is a highlight as the head honcho in this so-so sequel, with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson as the agents. From Friday.

AMAZON PRIME

DRAMA MOZART IN THE JUNGLE (All four seasons) Amazon’s sharp, quirky show about warring conductors has always kept a strangely low profile. Gael Garcia Bernal plays the fiery Rodrigo, with Malcolm Mcdowell as the steadier hand he replaces. STUMPTOWN DRAMA (All 18 episodes) She gambles, she drinks and she never has any money, but noirish private eye Dex Parios (Marvel’s Cobie Smulders) always gets the job done in this US drama. HONEST THIEF MOVIE (2020) 15 Liam Neeson has done awfully well out of Taken. In the latest film to recycle his ‘man with particular skills’ persona, he plays a bank robber – the ‘In-and-out Bandit’ (left) – who hopes for a noble life, but is pushed into a terrible journey of revenge. And threatening people over the phone. From Friday. NEW! THE BOY FROM MEDELLIN Politics meets music in a documentary that follows the Colombian singer J. Balvin to a concert in his unsettled home town. From Friday.

MOVIE JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 (2017) 18 Dumber than the first movie, but still delivers on action. From Monday.

SKY / NOW

COMEDY THE COMEBACK (All 21 episodes) Lisa Kudrow (right) gives a rich performance at the centre of this comedy, which tracks an ex-sitcom actress on the reality TV comeback trail. It also features a steady stream of cameos from the likes of Jay Leno and Rupaul.

DISNEY+

NEW! STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH (Episode 1) HHH A child joins up with a band of mercenaries for this actionpacked animated adventure series, which launches on Star Wars Day (May The Fourth Be With You). From Tuesday, with a new episode following every Friday. NEW GIRL NEW! (All seven seasons) Charming romcom/sitcom, with Zooey Deschanel as the kooky flatmate to three men in an LA flat. It’s a cute and quick show that’s full of one-liners, the TV equivalent of a cooling breeze. From Friday.

BEST OF THE REST

NEW! MYTHIC QUEST (Apple TV+) Season two of Apple’s easy-going workplace comedy, which is full of people who don’t get along in amusing ways. Set in a video game studio, it stars Rob Mcelhenney – the same Rob Mcelhenney who co-owns National League side Wrexham FC – as lothario creative Ian. From Friday. NEW! RIVER (Britbox) Unforgotten’s Nicola Walker stars in Abi Morgan’s brilliant BBC drama about a haunted detective and his partner (Walker). From Thursday.

THE VERY EXCELLENT MR DUNDEE (2020) 12 (Virgin) Paul Hogan plays himself in this curiosity piece of a comedy, in which fame comes a-calling for the Crocodile Dundee star. There’s a bit of Hollywood satire along the way, as well as John Cleese, Chevy Chase and Olivia Newton-john. Just don’t expect too much. CITY OF LIES (2018) 15 (BT Film Store, Virgin) By-the-numbers police drama – based on a true story – that’s lifted by its two charismatic stars, Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker. Both from Monday.
