PICK OF THE DAY
GRANTCHESTER
9PM, ITV ★★★★
Geordie and, in particular,
Will are reeling from Leonard’s recent imprisonment, and are hitting the bottle to distract themselves. But upon leaving the pub, they come across a student protest taking place on the roof a college building – and a young woman they had met earlier falls to her death. The detective duo are straight on to the case, and the postmortem reveals some interesting details. But they struggle to get information from the wary students, including the victim’s boyfriend, Rory (right). Could he have had reason to want her dead?
GARDENERS’ WORLD 8.30PM, BBC2
★★★★
This special episode focuses on trees and the important role they play in our gardens and the world. Zoe Ball visits a tree project in London that’s trying to engage with kids, Advolly Richmond looks into the history of trees in garden design, and in Staffordshire, we learn how trees can mitigate climate change.
SUSAN CALMAN’S GRAND DAY OUT
9PM, CH5 ★★★★ We’ve barely had time to miss her, but the delightful Susan is back on the road with a new run of her series. She tours the UK in her camper van, Helen Mirren, to visit fun-filled spots inspired by her own childhood holidays. First up, she’s in the Norfolk Broads, where Susan sails on a restored wherry and treks to a bakery in a windmill.
THE NORTH WATER 9.30PM, BBC2
★★★★ After being rescued in the wilderness, a very weak Sumner is being nursed back to a health by a missionary in this final episode. Sage advice leads him to make his way back to Hull to demand his wages for a fresh start, but there are more surprises in store – and we find out what has happened to Drax. TJ
