In 1968, the Labour government instigated the merger of two car manufacturers — whose marques included Jaguar, Rover and the Mini range – under the umbrella of the British Leyland Motor Company. It proved to be a leaky umbrella, bedevilled by disputes, strikes and poor industrial relationships. Kirsty Walk brings together executives, shop stewards, car workers and the motoring journalist and former Top Gear presenter Chris Goffey, who was once a test driver for the company. They will discuss events that led to the collapse of British Leyland.
