THE TRICK 8.30PM, BBC1

★★★★

Stick with this one-off drama about the 2009 ‘Climategate’ affair, because it has so much information to get across in the opening half hour that the human drama gets buried, along with the importance of the topic. Jason Watkins stars as Professor Jones (right), who was unjustly persecuted for data he presented on climate change, creating a media storm that set the chance for action back years. Jerome Flynn is fun to watch as charismatic tabloid editor turned PR Neil Wallis, who coaches Jones. Climate Change Goes On Trial follows later (11.15pm, BBC2).

SAVE MONEY: MY BEAUTIFUL GREEN HOME 8PM, ITV

★★★

For this chirpy new series, the journalist Ranvir Singh and the property expert Kunle Barker follow three families renovating their homes with green technology. There are tips about things you’d expect – solar panels, recycled water – and things you might not, such as bamboo shower curtains.

BLAIR & BROWN: THE NEW LABOUR REVOLUTION 9PM, BBC2

★★★★★

Part three takes us up to a breaking point between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, and takes in many extraordinary moments on the way. Chief among them is Blair’s speech to 10,000 members of the Women’s Institute at Wembley Arena, when he was slow hand-clapped.
