PICK OF THE DAY
SPITTING IMAGE: HALLOWEEN SPECIAL 9.30PM, ITV
★★★★
The scarily on-the-nose topical satire – relaunched to great acclaim last year – has been busy boiling up new batches of wickedly funny sketches. As series two continues on Britbox, this spooky one-off features a cast hand-picked from hundreds of puppets of familiar faces. Donald Trump might not be US President any more, but his puppet was one of the show’s most popular characters, and the treats keep coming with
Alex ‘Shrek’ Salmond (right) and Priti ‘vampire’ Patel.
MONEYBALL 6.30PM, ITV
★★★
Football legend Ian Wright hosts a brand-new show that mixes our love for ball games with big-money game play. Contestants answer questions to build up the prize fund, but risk losing it all on the bounce of a ball. As anyone who’s watched a penalty shoot-out will know, this could make for painfully tense viewing.
BISMARCK: 24 HOURS TO DOOM
6.55PM, CH4 ★★★★ In the 80th anniversary year, this documentary looks back on one of the most famous Royal Navy victories of the Second World War. The film charts the final hours of the Bismarck as the Navy sought retribution for the sinking of HMS Hood. Launched in 1939, Bismarck’s rule of the waves was to be dizzyingly short.
BRITAIN’S FORGOTTEN WARS WITH TONY ROBINSON
7.55PM, CH4 ★★★★
This is the final episode of his educational and eye-opening series, and Tony Robinson ends on an especially bleak note. In 1950s Kenya, guerrilla fighters took up arms to put an end to British colonial rule. The Mau Mau Uprising was met with fierce, bloody resistance from the Brits. SIMONE ANDREWS
