Tom Cruise sports a bad haircut as a hit man (below) with five targets to kill in one night. Michael Mann’s La-set nocturnal thriller is moodily effective, as Jamie Foxx’s taxi driver desperatel­y regrets picking up his killer fare.

Reformed car thief Randall ‘Memphis’ Raines (Nicolas Cage) is blackmaile­d into stealing wheels again by Christophe­r Eccleston’s crime boss, who is threatenin­g to kill his brother. A loose remake of the 1974 cult classic.

Clive Barker directs this British horror based on his own short novel. Its endurance is largely down to the terrifying pain-seekers the Cenobites, of which Pinhead emerged as something of an unlikely poster boy. (Freeview 69, Freesat 138, Sky 317, Virgin 149)

Find out what made Max (Mel Gibson) so mad in this first of the gritty film series. Max, his wife (Joanne Samuel, above) and ‘sprog’ are attacked by one of the gangs who rampage through a dystopian Australia. The first two sequels follow nightly on ITV4.

If Jaws (Richard Kiel) had his way, 007 would be on the menu, but instead, the henchman chews his way through padlocks, prison bars and whatever else stands in his way. It’s one of Roger Moore’s (above, with Barbara Bach) most enjoyable Bond outings.

Ron Perlman stars in this action thriller as a former Mossad agent turned assassin for hire who, ahead of his retirement, has one last score to settle. Formulaic stuff, but with a decent cast that includes Richard Dreyfuss.

This fifth film in the boisterous Cgi-heavy swashbuckl­ing franchise stars Kaya Scodelario as an astronomer looking to the stars, and finding Javier Bardem’s rotting Captain Salazar getting in her way. Salty sea dog Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) returns.
