DYNASTIES II 8PM, BBC1

★★★★★

In this returning series, the reassuring voice of David Attenborough introduces us to four more animal families. In tonight’s first episode, we meet puma Rupestre, who is raising four cubs at the base of the Patagonian ice field in South America. At 12 weeks old, the four youngsters already have differing personalities and needs, and the whole family must brace for the winter months – the journey to shelter is a long trek for little legs. The freezing conditions are but one of the challenges the family will face if Rupestre is to establish her dynasty.

EXTRAORDINARY PORTRAITS 6.30PM, BBC1

This week’s portrait celebrates the bravery and resilience of Catrin Pugh, who survived a bus crash with burns across 96 per cent of her body. Tinie Tempah introduces her to Kelvin Okafor, whose pencil portraits are incredibly detailed and realistic. How will Catrin feel when she sees herself in close-up through Kelvin’s eyes?

THE SPEEDSHOP 8PM, BBC2

For the first project of his new series, custom bike supremo Titch Cormack and his team build a sidecar for a former special forces colleague. Paraylsed from the neck down, Toby will once more experience the thrill of riding a motorbike. The team also challenge each other to build electric bikes – powered by cordless drills.

THE MISADVENTURES OF ROMESH RANGANATHAN 9PM, BBC2

The comedian’s second offbeat travel adventure takes him to Romania. Romesh meets his guide in Bucharest and, after a tour of the capital, she takes him into the countryside and to Vlad the Impaler’s castle. But there’s much more to Romania than dark tales of vampires and its Communist past.
