PICK OF THE DAY
DEADLINE 9PM, CH5
★★★★
This twisty new mystery drama has an enticing set-up. Pretty but impassive Natalie (Charlie Murphy) has undergone a trial by media, perceived as guilty of her wealthy husband’s murder before she’s even been charged. ‘Trashy pays the rent’ documentary-maker James Alden (James D’arcy, right, with Murphy) certainly thinks she did it, and is surprised when she offers him the interview that all the tabloids have been baying for. There’s a catch, of course: Alden – once a hard-hitting investigative journalist – must find the real culprit. But who’s really in control of the story?
THE GREAT CELEBRITY BAKE OFF 8PM, CH4
★★★★ There’s a last-minute drop-out this week, so Matt Lucas grabs a spatula and throws himself into the mix. He joins DJ Annie Mac, food-loving comic Ed Gamble and rapper Example to rustle up stained-glass biscuits, a jam-packed Technical and a Showstopper designed to showcase what they all did before they were famous.
ELLIE SIMMONDS: A WORLD WITHOUT DWARFISM? 9PM, BBC1
★★★★
There’s a new drug for children with dwarfism that can make them grow taller. This makes Paralympian Ellie uneasy.
She handles this investigation sensitively, despite her feelings, as she meets children who are taking the drug, on trials and in the US, and questions whether a cure is really necessary.

The series combining family histories with globetrotting road trips returns. The first duo to investigate their bloodlines are quiz Chasers Anne Hegerty and Shaun Wallace.
