DIY SOS: THE BIG BUILD

8PM, BBC1 ★★★★

Wait until you meet Jordan Hutchison. This inspirational teenager has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, but that hasn’t stopped him defying expectations and raising huge sums of money for charity. He currently lives with his parents and his siblings at his grandmother’s house, sleeping on an air bed, while the parents share rooms with the younger children. And that’s because their home is a building site after a series of issues meant the family ran out of money, with no way of finishing the work. Rarely has there been a more worthy recipient of a visit from Nick Knowles and an army of local volunteers.

THE YORKSHIRE VET 8PM, CH5

★★★

This week, Julian Norton meets a unique sheep called Cliff. He doesn’t look like other sheep – and when he was born, his owner, Emma (right), thought he wouldn’t live very long. But how wrong she was, because Cliff’s full of life, particularly when it comes to the ladies! In fact, he’s too energetic, so Emma’s called for Julian to help put a stop to Cliff’s amorous ways. Elsewhere, Peter Wright meets a French bulldog puppy called Blue, who has a large lump on his eye, which the veteran vet believes is the largest of its kind he’s seen in his 40 years on the job.

DERRY GIRLS 9PM, CH4

★★★★

Over the next two nights, we pay our final visits to Northern Ireland to catch up with everyone’s favourite schoolgirls. Lisa Mcgee’s raucous, award-winning comedy showed that life against the backdrop of the Troubles wasn’t all doom and gloom, and, if you missed it first time around, make sure you seek it out on the Channel 4 catch-up service All 4. In tonight’s penultimate episode, the girls will do anything to get a ticket for a Fatboy Slim concert, but it’s a night tinged with joy and sadness. Tomorrow night’s final part is set against the backdrop of the Good Friday Agreement (see page 53).

HULLRAISERS 9.35PM, CH4

★★★

It’s the final episode of this femaleled comedy, which has surely done enough to get a second series.

Much of that is down to Leah Brotherhead’s refreshingly honest performance as put-upon mum

Toni, who this week is a new woman after her first full night’s sleep since the birth of her daughter. Now, she’s making career plans, and is about to have a huge birthday party. What could go wrong? Meanwhile, a failed date with an old flame leads Rana to re-evaluate her life.

JAY BLADES: NO PLACE LIKE HOME 9PM, CH5

★★★ The Repair Shop presenter concludes his tour of the streets on which he grew up, and you can imagine Channel 5 returning to this clever format in the future with a new celebrity in the role of tour guide. Jay (right) follows in the footsteps of his young-adult self for his final walk, exploring the places where he used to live and discovering their hidden secrets. As well as learning some fascinating local history, we also get a unique insight into Jay’s life before he found fame, when during a difficult time, he slept in hostels for the homeless.
