My weekend
What I’ve been binge-watching... I loved
This Is Going To Hurt, the BBC drama based on the experiences of an NHS doctor. It starred Ben Whishaw, and I was shocked by its tragic plot twist. What I’m reading... The Ruin Of All
Witches by Malcolm Gaskill is a disturbing but fascinating book about the witches of Salem. The details about the women accused of witchcraft in the 1600s are riveting. I’ve also been reading Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing as I’m about to perform in it at the National Theatre in July.
What I’m listening to... In Our Time with Melvyn Bragg, and Emma Barnett on Woman’s Hour, both on Radio 4. I’ve also listened to the Conflict Of Interest podcasts from the Imperial War Museums, paying particular attention to the one about Northern Ireland, as my dad’s from there and he’s a historian, so I wanted to try to impress him!
What I’m cooking... Kedgeree with haddock, eggs and chopped parsley, but my husband [Toast Of London actor Harry Peacock] does most of the cooking at home.
My favourite restaurant... The Turkish restaurant Midpoint in Greenwich, south-east
London. They’re relaxed about children – our daughters Gwendolyn and Dora are seven and nine – and the pistachio pudding is really good.
My favourite walk... As a family, we go to National Trust properties such as Ightham Mote, a 14th-century moated manor house, and the Tudor village of Chiddingstone, both in Kent. We found a groat near the village once and had it framed.
My weekend hobby... I’m decorating our new house at the moment so I’ve been searching for art nouveau wallpaper and getting excited about
patterned tiles – that’s a sure sign of middle age.
My perfect weekend away... I like the idea of a romantic weekend away with my husband, but would want our daughters to be there too. I can’t wait for them to grow up so we can enjoy a spa weekend together.
Katherine is in the sitcom Here We Go on iplayer.
