Emma’s in a skirt AND trousers on red carpet
WITH a slicked-back hairdo and a sultry stare, Emma Watson certainly turned heads on the red carpet.
But she probably left more than a few of her admirers doing a double take over her adventurous choice of outfit to the gala celebrating Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
From one angle, it looked like the 25-year-old was wearing smart grey trousers and a simple black top. Then, as she gave photographers a twirl, she revealed her middle was embellished with an extravagant sweep of material, making the Dior design half a skirt, half a trouser suit.
But there was nothing half-hearted about her earrings, with a grand total of five in her left ear. All in all the Harry Potter actress cut an impressive figure – and managed to hold her own among some rather controversial fellow guests.
Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s far-Right Front National, also made it on to the 2015 power list, and travelled to New York for the gala on Tuesday night. Time said she had been included because her success in European and local elections had transformed her into the ‘leading Right-winger’ on the Continent.
Time journalist Vivienne Walt wrote: ‘Le Pen has spun gold from voter exasperation, mixing charm and ambition to rack up wins in European Parliament and local elections with an anti-Europe, anti-immigration campaign.’ It is the first time Miss Watson has been included in the Time 100 and comes after she was appointed a United Nations women’s ambassador and launched the UN’s HeForShe campaign, which calls for men to advocate gender equality.
Time said it is ‘refreshing to see her vigorous embrace of feminism ... Although she is one of the world’s highest-paid actresses, she has spoken out about the paucity of female directors in Hollywood’.
Luckily for Miss Watson, the great and good of Hollywood were out in force at the event, as well as Miss Le Pen. Actress Julianne Moore was there, as was reality TV star Kim Kardashian. Later in the evening Miss Watson was seen engrossed in conversation with actor Bradley Cooper.
