3 children orphaned as parents found dead
THREE children have been left orphaned after their parents died in a suspected murder-suicide.
The bodies of Tracey Baker, 42, and her husband Kevin, 35, were found at their family home.
They leave behind two daughters and a son – all believed to be under the age of ten.
Mrs Baker died from multiple head injuries while her husband hanged himself, post-mortem examinations concluded.
A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said the couple had been having problems after Mr Baker stopped working as a builder due to health issues.
She said: ‘Kevin and Tracey were found dead at their house. I don’t know much about what happened.
‘I know that they hadn’t been getting on very well recently, I don’t know why.
‘I think he was still living there but there were a few nights recently when he didn’t come home.’
Police were called to the £142,000 property in Chard, Somerset, at around 10am on Sunday.
The neighbour described the family as ‘lovely’ people, saying they were always friendly.
She added: ‘They’ve got three children, they’re quite young. The youngest doesn’t even go to school yet – I think she’s about three. I don’t think the oldest was any older than nine.
‘They were lovely, such nice people. Tracey was absolutely gorgeous. If I went out the front she would always say hello. It’s so sad, I just don’t know what to think.
‘She stayed at home most of the time, I don’t think she worked. I know Kevin was a builder but he had not been able to work for the past few months because of illness.’
Senior investigating officer Andy Mott, of Avon and Somerset police, said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
